How Lessons Are Made

We teach the practical money skills that come with a first job and every job after it.

Who decides what we cover

We do. Topics are chosen because readers need them, not because someone has paid for them. Our disclosure page explains how the site is funded.

Where our facts come from

Our lessons are checked against the Internal Revenue Service, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Labor, the Securities and Exchange Commission’s Investor.gov, FINRA and SIPC.

How articles are produced

We use AI tools for research and first drafts. A draft isn’t published until we’ve checked its facts, figures and rules against official or primary sources and edited it. We’re responsible for every article on the site, however it was drafted.

Research, not testing

Our guides are based on research. Where an article involves products or services, we haven’t tested them ourselves unless we clearly say so.

Keeping guides current

Rules, limits and prices change. We review articles and update them when something important changes, and we encourage readers to confirm time-sensitive details with the official source.

Fixing mistakes

Spotted an error? Email richard@financeskills.net with the page and what’s wrong. We look at every report and correct confirmed mistakes promptly.
